How Many PSI Do You Run Your Regulators At?

The title says it all! I just did a regulated return... I had read that Ford runs the 7.3L at 55PSI and IH ran it at 70PSI. Right now, I'm running mine at 70PSI. I was running it at 60PSI, but upped it to 70PSI to see what it'd do. The truck "seems" to like 60PSI better, but I'm almost positive I'm getting more power outta 70PSI. The thing is, it seems that the more power I get, the harder it is for the truck to put the power to the pavement... I'm gonna try a shift kit and see what happens. But back to the subject... what are y'all running your regulators at?

60psi...

Every injector and motor is different.

Fuel pressure above 50psi will not make more power one way or the other...

So what is gained by running more PSI other than possibly a better spray into the cylinders? If that's the case, then I'm not gonna run 70PSI...

The spray is generated by the HPOP pressure. It has nothing to do with the fuel feed to the stix....

60-62psi here, ran it at 70psi for awhile but it seemed to like around 60psi best.

65psi here right now. For the most part what Joe said is correct. Do the math. 3,000psi times 55psi vs 3,000psi times 65 psi. That's only 30,000 psi difference. No real difference right?

Actually I don't think it works exactly that way but I like having PSI to fill my injectors with fuel.

That's what I'm thinking... my truck seemed to run better at 60ish PSI. I've got half a mind to put it back down to 60-65PSI. Can anybody think of a reason to run ALOT of pressure? Anybody have any real proof/evidence/experience/data/etc with the different pressures?

Me too, pump longevity and reduced likelihood of a leak.

Well, if 60PSI is enough to accomplish the same thing as 70PSI, then I see no need to up it anymore than that.

you cant compress a liquid.. if you are filling the fuel side of the injector fine at 60 psi, then 70 psi per se isnt going to get "more fuel" into the injector. It will just draw more amperage on the pump=shorter life.

What he said. Just have what you need to fill the injectors. I choose to go on the higher side. No you cannot compress a liquid, but you can put it under a lot of pressure. When another force acts on that pressurized liquid you get mo pressure. In the end it is the same volume being injected though so get by with the lowest pressure that works.

Alright then, I'm gonna put it back down to 60PSI... it seemed to run better at 60PSI anyways.
