2000 ranger whining transmission noise. TC?
Hi,
I am new here due to a problematic sound I am getting from my 2000 Ford Ranger. It is Automatic with 130,000 miles. Actually there are two problems.
1. The transmnission makes a constant and annoying whining sound similar to if it were going into reverse. When in park or neurtal there is nothing but as soon as it is engaged in gear the whining starts even when I am stopped. Then the pitch increases with increased speed of the vehicle. I read up and beleive it may be the torque converter. What do you guys think? Also the engine recently seized at 70 mph with a thrown rod. Could this damage the torque converter? I also had it scanned and they reported no transmission codes.
2. The engine idles rough and akwardly. It doesnt stall but it vibrates alot at idle. When I checked the ignition timing with a light I found that the spark on many of the cylinders is not perfectly consistant. I then replaced the coils but it didn't help the problem at all. I also changed the DPFE because it was sending code P0401 (EGR insufficient flow), P0402 (EGR excessive flow), P1401 (DPFE High Voltage), and P0301 (Cyl 1 misfire). As of now the check engine light is off but the rough idle persists. Any Ideas?
Thanks in advance!

Sorry to confuse,
I threw a rod and then replaced the engine. So there is a new (used) engine installed in the truck which is what I have been driving on. Ever since the new new engine was installed I have had the two troubles I mentioned, (the transmission and the engine idle problem). Any help on those two issues will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks again
