Unhappy Excursion + Parking Garage + Wife

Not a good combination.

Sad to report that the passenger side of my X was introduced to a support beam of the parking garage.

I am amazed at how front door, rear door and rear quarter panel all managed to be dented and scrapped to hell on what should be a 3MPH collision. Especially when you consider this is a beam right next to our parking spot. She would have had to have pulled the wheel so sharp to the right completely ignoring the pole and gunning the gas a little excessively in a parking garage... but alas I wasn't there...and, at this point, not worth getting into an argument over. She's thoroughly embarrassed anyway.

Just hate to see the X with such an ugly mess along it's passenger side. Body shop guy says $1500, with full detailing of rest of the truck. I suppose it could be worse...

$1500 isn't bad at all. My wife did the almost the same thing one day with one of those shopping cart return cages on her F-150 Supercrew. She hit it with the passenger front quarter panel and ran it all the way down the side of the truck. There wasn't any panel on the passenger side that wasn't damaged. I know guys do stupid stuff, but . The damage on it was around $2,000.

I just don't let my wife park the Ex in a garage. $1500 doesn't sound too bad, I hope it works out.

Last year, I took my Ex into a parking garage and it fit fine under the clearance bar at the entrance to the garage. The first three levels were reserved spaces and I had to park on the 4th level and the Ex made it up there just fine.

However, on the way back down, It wouldn't clear the beams over the ramps. I had to back it all the way out of the garage.

I sure got some funny looks.

It sure easy to get hung up in tight quarters. I wouldn't be too hard on her!

At least it wasn't an overhead beam at 3 mph, it it was you might be looking for a new Ex.

So true...

Now you remind me of all the grief the homeowners association gives me. I have about 2" of clearance, yet I always get some do-gooder explaining to me how I am coming so close to hitting the ceiling and can I park elsewhere (over the last 3 years, and trust me, I measured quite thoroughly at the time I was signing the lease that I would clear).

At any rate, I tried to explain to the last lady who mentioned it that, she shouldn't worry, 'the truck is an adult and stopped growing years ago'...

Still don't think she's figured it out yet...I still get dirty looks.

Haha, heard some great stories from HOA people. Glad the damage wasn't worse too, could have been real bad. If I know I'm going to park in a garage, the taurus will probably get the nod on that one.

HOAs are just a group of busy bodies with little to do other than trying to make others conform to their way of thinking or doing things. I refuse to have anything to do with them or their associations. We sold a very nice home in Boca because of them and bought another ten miles away in Boca, in a non HOA area and lived there very happily for years.

I lived in an apt with parking one time and the manager wouldn't let me park under a pipe that was 2 inches above the Grand Wagoneer. I guess he thought it was still growing.

Yep, could have been much worse, but that doesn't make it feel better.

Holy cow! Didn't she wonder what the noise was?

I love living in the country, no HOAs or regulations about what I have in my driveway.
