When i first got my truck those specs showed that the crew cabs could come with eather tank. I would guess at that point it was shortbed and longbed. Now it shows the bigger tank on both.

Well check this out. Ford says my fuel tank should be 37.5 gallons. Here's the response from Ford:

"Thank you for contacting the Ford Motor Company Customer Relationship Center regarding the fuel tank on your 2011 Ford F-350.

According to our resources, the fuel tank capacity of your vehicle is indeed 37.5 gallons. Were you able to discuss your concern with your dealership? If not, I recommend that you contact your Dealership for further assistance on this matter so they can take a look at your vehicle and come up with a possible resolution.

To locate a Ford or Lincoln-Mercury dealership, please visit

Official Ford, Lincoln & Mercury Owner Site | Personalized Owner Information | FLMowner.com

I understand your frustrations regarding this matter. I hope that with the help of your Dealership your concern will be resolved at the soonest time possible as your satisfaction is of utmost importance to us."

So Ford says I have a 37.5 gallon tank, but when the warning message says I'm empty, I only get 20 - 22 gallons in it. Is this a case of bad information on the message center? Are the low level sensors kicking in when I still have 15 gallons? Let's figure this out. This is important.

Regardless, this response confirms what I expected when I bought the truck and goes a long way toward obligating them. We need to figure out once and for all if the tank is 26 or 37.5. If it's 26, I'll have Ford install the right size on their dime.

Hey, I just wrote an email to customer service through the Ford Owner's website. When writing an email from there, it asks for your VIN so they can lookup the specs on your vehicle. This is another reason the affirmative response from Ford is so powerful in favor of our position. They know my exact vehicle and they confirmed it should have the 37.5. If we truly have 26's in our trucks, it's clear now that most of us were expecting 37.5's when ordering. I am certain I checked on that before my truck arrived so bottom line is we did not receive what Ford advertised.

This is grounds for a class action and I am certain many other Ford owners feel the same way. I don't really want to do that and am hoping it's just a software thing.

Who wants to be the guinni pig and carry 5 gallons of diesel in the back of there truck and see how long it takes to run out after it says 0 miles to empty? Im sure somebody somewhere already has one of those big in bed tanks so it wouldnt be that hard for you to do it.

Well that tears it. Sounds like Ford used up a bunch of 26 gallon tanks then on the initial production run. This is not what Ford advertised when I ordered the truck.

It's time to start organizing and we need to understand how many other owners are upset about this. I'm happy to start a spreadsheet and start assembling data. Who wants me to add them to the list? My ultimate goal is to have Ford replace our puny fuel tanks with the size they advertised.
