Check out the Antique Engines Antique Tractors Steam Engines and Old Iron forums. They have a section dedicated to these vintage and antique generators.
They helped me out with my 1963 Dayton/Winco generator.

Thanks, Ian!
Most of my google searches led me there, so I eventually set up an account and asked some questions. Very helpful people over there!
I went up to the house last night and was able to get it running. Before the previous owner died he must have drained the fuel for storage, so I didn't have to deal with 8-year-old gas gumming things up. After filling the tank it fired right up! Really amazing for a 46 year old machine.

Those Onan generators are great. When the hurricane hit a few years back, We evacuated up to my families homestead about 70 miles away. The wind knocked out service for about a month. After the first day with no power, I got the John Deere out and pulled the onan out of an old winnebago that had been sitting for over twenty years. It looked almost new. I took a washing machine body and fit the generator on top. We spent about two hours fiddling with it and fired it up. It ran non stop for a month and powered 2 fridges, 4 fans, and 2 televisions.
