Correct shock paint color?

I'm going to replace the shocks on my 1960 F-100 soon (most likely with a set of new KYB's). I would like to paint my new shocks in the exact, and correct, paint color used on the new 1960 Ford F-100 truck shocks. Does anyone know what the correct color was and in what finish (gloss, semi-gloss, flat, hammertone, etc.)?

Hmmm, this is a real tough one because I don't think it is documented in writting anywhere.

I do know for sure that the Chassis, springs, axles, and wheels (except for F-100 wheels) were painted black, but not positive on the shocks.

From the looks of some Ford ads I've seen, and real photos from my '59 4x4 techician repair booklet, The shocks appear to have been painted black as well.

I am about 98% certain, but not 100% positive the original shocks were painted black.

Sorry, I know this isn't the definate answer you're looking for.

This also brings up another question. Where all the 1960 F-100 2-wheel drive trucks equiped with the same shocks? I have looked around on e-bay for NOS shocks just to see what color they were, and they all are different. I have seen them in white, grey, and a bonze color. Any further information would be greatly appreciated.

2 wheel drive
F-100, F-250, & F-350
All used the same front shocks....... Part # B7C 18124-A

2 wheel drive F-100 Rear shocks.... Part # B7C 18125-A
2 wheel drive F-250 Rear Shocks.... Part # B9T 18125-B
2 wheel drive F-350 Rear Shocks.... Part # B3Y 18125-A

Here is a picture (not an airbrush) that might help. At the end of the Ford service tech's left finger tips, you can see the shock absorber. Though it's a black & white photo, the shock looks black to me. I hope it helps.

Looks like the old McDonald's employees!
