A duraspark II ignition module and distributer. Also you don't need to change exgaust manifolds but you should fabricate away to heat the intake manifold where the carb exhaust would heat. The efi exhaust manifold is less restrictive. All of this information can be found in the ford 300 forums on this website.

Honestly the efi system for the 300 isn't half bad. Unless you want to upgrade your cam your set.

If you're looking at doing some crazy stuff with your 4.9 then I suggest instead of sinking money into retrofitting it with carb stuff (Most likely you WILL need to cut/knock a hole in the block for the mechanical fuel pump too I believe, unless you go with an electric one.) that you look at and give Mega Squirt a shot. It is a pretty nice system and you can leave everything fuel injected as well as program it how you want, mild or wild and works with any engine upgrade.

Not worth it, I had both back when and found the EFI to be much better and more powerful than the carb engine.

I second the last two posts. The megasquirt is great if you want to do crazy things. I can be plugged directly into place of the stock ecu even, and use the existing efi hardware.

Couldn't you also convert to MAF using parts from a '96 model 300?

It would be FAR easier and probably just as expensive to replace the stock EEC with a MEgasquirt to do a MAF conversion
