Where to buy spring retaining plate for Dana 44?

Where can I buy a new spring retaining plate for the front hub assembly of the Dana 44 in my '78 Ford F-150? Also, what type of grease should I use when I pack the bearings and reassemble? Thank you.

i would say regular " bearing grease " to repack your bearings. And for teh spring retaining plate.. hmm retaining plate.. makes me think of leaf spring.. flat with two lips.. but a dana 44 would probably have springs.. so do you mean a " spring perch.. or basket kinda like an upside down bowl that cups the top of the spring? do you have a picture of the other sides plate.. eather way i've never heard of them being for sale anywhere.. scrap yard/pick apart may be best place to find it.

I didn't know what to call it, but after looking at a Dana publication, Dana refers to it as a spring retainer plate. This plate butts up against the outside of the outer wheel bearing. The inside of the plate cups around the outside of the outer wheel bearing - the inside diameter of the plate is specific to the outside lip of the outer wheel bearing; the outside of the plate provides a base for the spring that keeps pressure of the gear that locks the hug. My wheel bearings had worn and loosed over time and somehow the wheel bearing ate into this plate, so there was some metal shavings in the grease in the hug. I'm looking for a new plate, but I can't find out if it is a dealer item, at a parts store, or if it's obsolete.

Does anyone else have another name for this part? I've spent the last hour on the internet looking for someone that carries this part. Any suggestions?

The 1977 Truck Shop Manual series from Ford calls this part the "spring retainer ring" in the "Free-Running Hub - Internal Type" exploded-view diagram. The search continues.
