I just bought a new bed off craigslist and it does not come with a tailgate. I plan on putting the tailgate from my old bed back on temporarily. The tailgate does not look like ones I have seen on other 1995 F250s. My question is what tailgate was the original tailgate?

Top tailgate is a 80-86 tailgate.

Bottom is a 87-96


80-86 can be made to work on a newer bed.

In the 80-86 forum there is a thread I made a long time ago about tailgate swap.

 

That 2nd one is nothing more than the decorative aluminum trim on there-otherwise its a normal 87-97 gate
