When I get around to putting the nice wood floor and polished strips (they have been in the basement for a few years) I have a 30's era steel trunk that I will install. I have no idea when that will happen, this just works great.

Very nice work.

Come on! You're going off topic, you don't need to insult a person's truck, that just plain mean. The subject is about a suggestions for a storage box, something we could all get some information from. We don't need to insult each others trucks, we all work hard on them.

BTW, if we were all being honest I'm sure we'd all agree the Monkey Faces were the best style design

Bob,

LOL...its all good. Afterall, you've seen my multi-colored morphodite and with the exception of the truly wonderful and gorgeous grill the rest of the truck would look great from 10 miles away, in the dark, INSIDE the box.....

I crack myself up

I like your monkey face truck and the colour looks great, is your storage box bolted to your bed or does it sit there on its own weight??

Just do what I did and get a Panel truck. Plenty of enclosed storage space.

Um, sorry, Bob. I didn't realize that we were so serious here and I certainly didn't mean to offend anyone's delicate sensibilities. I was just funnin' Bobby a little. I wasn't making fun of his truck. I just hadn't lobbed a "monkey face" bomb over the fence for awhile, although I see that (ahem) "certain others" make their fair share of manure spreader cracks. It won't happen again, Boss.

BOR, I hope you didn't take my comment seriously, man we're always throwing barbs at each here. It's all in fun.

You must admit though, that Manure Auger grill takes some getting use to

For the record.....I understood both the comments; the initial monkey face bomb from BOR, and the reply from Bob to be good natured "funnin"

Please, lets not stop the "funnin" thats one of the best aspects about this site is that we can all have a little fun. Feel free to tease me any time, I'm good for it. Lord knows I do my share of teasin and I ain't about to change.

Now, you manure spreaders head back to your corner....monkey faced guys back to yours.......when the bell rings come out swinging! I want a good clean fight here, no hittting below the belt, no eye gouging, spitting, or kicking

Its all fun

If you keep you eyes open the old luggage carriers come up for sale on Ebay now and again. I'm talking about the luggage crates that were used on cars in the 20's and 30's...they kinda look like old steamer trunks

I scored an old 7-up aluminum ice chest at a reasonable price. My plan is to paint it white to match my roof and use a couple of the existing bolts to anchor it down. When it's all done, I'll post a photo. Thanks again for idea!

Steve,

Excellent!!! I can't wait to see it. Like I said, that was my original plan but I ended up dropping my battery down below my bed floor and I have an access panel in the bedloor. Of course it helps that I have a metal bed floor from a 2005 GMC...LOL

Love some of the ideas. Not as neat as some but I have a rubbermate type trunk that when I need some extra storage I attach kind of off set in the middle of the bed like I just sat it there and forgot. It is held down with a bedbolt inside. I have had so many people stop me when I park to tell me my box might slide off.

My primary plan is a pair of large steel ammo boxes that I plan to paint cab color and attach with bedbolts on either side of my lower racks. I made the racks so they are just slightly higher than boxes.

We live in apple country so I have toyed with making a fake 20 bushel apple crate (standard orchard crate) of apples for the back with a hinged top. They normally weigh about 1000 lbs full of apples so it would look good on the back. Would take a lot of fake apples to cover just the top.
