Had the windows retinted - LIMO baby!!

My tint was peeling off in one spot on my drivers side front window. I took it back to the tint shop and they warrantied the tint for me (4 years later). I had 20% (medium) on the front two windows and 20% over the top of the factory tinted glass on the rear two doors and back slider. I loved how dark the back doors were. So when I took it in to get the drivers window redone, I ended up going to 5% (limo) on the front two doors and a 5% eyebrow across the top of the front windshield. Looks much better!!!

I always heard Texas would bust you for anything beyond the factory tint.

Wonder how the LEO's are there. Here we don't write many tickets for tint issues, but it's different everywhere. It serves more as a probable cause to stop someone, so if you don't like being bothered all the time, you should be good to go. In my opinion, it does look good.

Like I said, we're fortunate to have a good relationship with our police officers. It mainly comes from our bond that we both hate the City Manager so much!! lol

You mean that guy who tells you to cut as many corners as possible to save money? Here they recently sent out an email stating no one can fuel up in the hottest hours of the day, for enviornmental and financial reasoning. Let 2 squad cars and 1 ambulance run out of gas, you get that email sent out again stating emergency response vehicles are exempt from this, haha. Anyway, the tint does look good, gonna get mine redone here eventually, saw a little flake on the drive side, bugs me now since it's right in my line of sight.

Here's one you'll appreciate. Its the news headlines. The top article is a headline saying the City voted to approve $8.1 for a new event center....then you go a little further down is sais they are going to ask the cops and forefighters not to take their upcoming raise because "the city is in such bad financial shape"

I thank God every day that we haven't had any issues with our pay just yet. Our city council actually isn't that bad, our mayor and city manager appreciate us. Our CM let his secretary fill a necessary position within the city to eliminate the hiring process and expenses of 2 positions. We're still getting step and longevity raises so far, no issues of yet. Hope it looks up for you guys down there brother, it's tough in these times. Read over on another forum that a smaller town up north, N.C. I think? fired school crossing guards and replaced them with ON DUTY fire and police personnel.

I need to tint mine, I had darker than legal tint on my 05' SD and they would not give me a new inspection sticker at Jiffy Lube, I took to back to the dealer and got it done.... that was the first time that I had anyone give me any crap for dark tint.

I retired from the SO in Houston last year after 17 years and never wrote a ticket for dark tint. Like has been said - I did use it for PC to stop more than once though.

I know of two patrol types around here (Houston) that carry "tint-o-meters" and write tickets...

All my vehicles have 5% on them as I cant stand the bright sun getting in. I think it also saves the interior from the harmful rays hehe.

I had 20% on my Subaru but haven't tinted the truck at all... man they look good. My problem is nighttime visibility. I end up out in the country after sunset where there aren't streetlights sometimes.... not sure I'd want that tint out there.

Local PD isn't your problem-it's the DPS and the state inspections that'll be the problem.
