Has anyone ever replaced their heater core , I have a 97 F150 5.4 4WD & the heater core is leaking , looking at the manual they say you have to tear the whole dash out to replace it , has anyone done theirs & have any tricks?

Get ready for some fun if you do it yourself. Yes, the entire dash has to come out. While I was at it I would thoroughly inspect the blend door for cracks. These trucks are notorious for these breaking.( Hear that little click under the dash?) That's the blend door and it sits right beside the heater core. Search this forum and you can find thorough instruction and pictures on how to do both. You're not the first and won't be the last. Good Luck!

 

I didnt have to completly remove the dash just drop the colum and move the dash out as far as possible yea it was a pain in the **** but I got it all done in about 4 hours....I also papered up the inside and dyed the dash...lol
