Since the weather has turned hot, the outside weatherstrip on the rear glass on my Sport Trac has been sticking to the glass and keeps coming out of the channel. Well now it must have ripped completely out while I was going down the road because it is missing. My local ford dealership says it is not available separately and I should try a glass company, has anybody else had this problem?
I don't have the vehicle with me right now, but it's the weatherstrip that wipes the outside of the glass and seals water from going inside the cab when the glass is up. This is the center glass in the back of the cab that vents and rolls down. if it was in a door it might called a belt moulding if that helps. I'll try to get a picture this weekend.
I have a bent up back glass frame. I'll look tomorrow and see if it's any good and/or removable. I remembered the inside piece there being separate but I had never looked at the outside. I went out and looked at mine, I see. Of course that was just as it started pouring down rain, first we've had in weeks! Hope the rain makes it down to you, we all need it!

The "wiper" is apparently bonded to the rear glass frame/seal/weatherstripping or whatever you want to call it. I looked at my bent one, pulled on the "wiper" and it absolutely would not separate from the frame. As I see it replacing the entire back window assembly is the only way to repair it. If I got this piece off of mine I don't know how or with what you'd secure it to yours with.
Have comprehensive insurance...............

ncranchero, that does look like the weatherstrip that is missing from mine. It looks like it was glued into a track in the outside moulding. if yours would come out, I think I could use weatherstrip adhesive to glue it into mine. the south carolina heat must have gotten to the original adhesive. heres a photo of the track 008-2 on Flickr - Photo Sharing!
thanks for your help.
I'll cut that section of the frame out and send it to you if you want to try getting it out. May be able to put in in real hot water to soften up the adhesive. I'll send it for whatever it costs to ship it, probably in a tube.

Grandpa, email me your address again. My PC went down and I finally have most of my stuff transferred to a newer one but I haven't been able to recover my Outlook email.

Thanks Steve, I got the part in the mail today, one end was really stuck but I worked from the other end and got the seal out. Hopefully I won't mess it up putting it in the old moulding. Really appreciate your help. The people are the best part of Ford-Trucks!
