Question 2011 F250 Brake Issues

HEY GUYS,

Hope I can get some help here. Just purchased my 2011 F250 FX4 2 weeks ago and have almost 3000 miles on it. All of the mile have been mostly long distance highway miles back and forth from Baton Rouge to Houston. I notice a slight pull to the right during braking so I took it in. Come to find out the brakes overheated and melted the caliper boot ober the brake piston causing the pad to slick. Both front calipers were melted a little, rotors had black rings from over heating, and pads were glazed. Rear rotors had black rings, and pads were glazed. I have NOT pulled anything nor had anything heavy other than mulch in the back of the truck. The technician told me it was from "aggressive driving" and heavy braking. Guys Im telling you, I have never had an issue with any of my vehicles. i.e... my last F150 FX4 I pulled a trailer with no brakes, and the tires and brakes lasted for 45K miles.

Please help here. I still love my new truck but just want to find the real reason as to what is wrong. Thanks!!

if it happens again then it could be a pressure release issue of the brake fluid. when you step on the brakes and let off, the pressure should drop off almost instantly. if your lines are holding on to the pressure then it will prematurely wear and cause all of those issues. could be a brake line issue, or master cylinder. best of luck. oh, and are you sure your brake peddle is returning all the way right away?

I sure hope they are covering it under warranty. It would be almost impossible to burn up a set of calipers under any street conditions in just 3000 miles.

The pedal is returning back up and it seems like the pressure relieves the torque once depressed.

I said the same, it shouldnt melt the boots when only 3k miles are driven highway.

Please let us know what Ford does to resolve this. I does sound like a pressure problem. Something has to be blocking the pressure from releasing after the petal is released.

My local dealer has five 6.7's on the lot and I am really thinking about taking the plunge but things like this are making me wait until the bugs are worked out.

Hopefully they can find out what the heck is going on and get it fixed correctly and quickly.

And just to clarify, you're not a left foot braker, are you?

I never could understand these people you follow with their brake lights on going up a hil - had an uncle who always used the brake with his left foot. Head-scratcher for sure...

Mobilecal - I had a similar problem that was noticed the day after picking up my new F250. Slight pull to the right while braking.....took it back to the dealer immediately. They could find nothing wrong with the brake assembly, so performed an allignment and all seems good now. Hearing your story kind of worries me, but I would think the tech would notice what you are describing. I've put a few hundred miles on the truck since then and everything is normal.

Please keep us posted on your situation.

2011 f150 with brake problems

My 2011 f150 ford has 6000 miles on it. (had 500 miles on it when purchased) It has a bad shimmy when slowing down. Had it checked out today and they said that my rotars need to be machined. They asked if I brake alot and drive on many hills using brakes. I about blew a gasket... my older ford (97 with 200,000 miles and still going strong) did not need a brake job until after 100,000 miles and I was the sole driver. So obviously, I know how to drive and care for my trucks. We own 4 fords, this is a first for us. Anybody else with brake issues early on? I want the rotars replaced not worked on.

There is a TSB for brake drag. I think it's 10-18-6.

I have 50,000 miles on my 2011 and it just turned one year old. I notice after I am hauling a trailer that the brakes smell bad. Every once in a while I smell it without the trailer. I have tried to pinpoint but with no luck.

I am having this issue also. My truck pulls hard to the left some times and the rim is covered in brake dust yet no other wheel is. I have also noticed allot of heat on the one tire. I changed out the break pads and checked the calipers and could not see any damage. Ford says they can't feel it so they cant do anything. My truck has been one of the only trucks from the dealer with problems and I'm not happy because the warranty is out in less than 1000 miles. I do drive it hard but I used to use a F150 for the same thing I do now and never had a problem. Any one know how much a caliper costs?

2011 f-350 all 4 brakes locking up

About a month ago now I had replaced my brake pads, rotors and calipers. Now this pass week after driving for about 30min they all lock up solid and the truck can’t shift out of 2nd it’s stuck that bad. Just drained all the brake fluid this morning and flush it out and put new it figure that there might have been water in the lines. Went for a test drive was driving and braking amazing felt better then ever until 30mins passed. They locked up even worse. I pumped them in parked and they released and I drove back to my shop. Still scratching my head over this, can anyone help? Also the pedal is very hard.

Not exactly sure how to describe these but the are the bolts that hold the Caliper on, they go into a rubber boot and double as pins. Is the rubber boot undamaged, pins not rusted and well greased? Would be odd that all of them would bad / not working properly.
