UPDATED HFCM FILTER
just thought that i would share what i found. went to pick up some fuel filters from ford and the parts guy said it was a updated fuel filter kit. the new filter for the hfcm has a oring added to it to prevent unfiltered fuel from getting through. the upper fuel fiter looked the same. seemed kinda pricey at 100.00 just thought that i would pass that on since iv learned alot from everybody on this site.

Welcome to FTE, and thanks for thinking of us, Blade.
Some of us are aware the filter has changed, and it seems like stock on the old ones is becoming depleted. More guys are seeing the new ones.
Old one:
New one:
Too bad about the $100. The place noted in the pics above have the new ones for $36.

You are right to be cautious with aftermarket filters. In fact, just don't buy them. But these are genuine OEM filters, just exactly like you get at the dealer.
Yes. Racor is the maker, and holds the patent. They make them for Motorcraft. The Motorcraft costs more just for brand licensing.

I do have one in mine right now. I have had to put the filter in first, then, screw the cap on. I know everyone says to snap into cap first, then screw in. But the first time I went to put a new filter in, the cap would bind then "snap" and turn some more, then hard to turn, then "snap". I pulled it back out and looked inside the filter center and see gear teeth in there. So I figured those gear teeth didn't line up right or something.
I now put filter in first.

I tried it both ways and it never felt right when it was snapped in the lid.
I put the filter in first to . you can make shur it gets seated in there good cap goes right on. someone that does it every day probably knows the right spot to hold it all and can just drop it right in and get it all to line up

Pretty common for the sensor to do that. It is either gunked up, or has simply failed. Usually just cleaning it is all you need. Lots of threads here on this, just search for "water in fuel", or WIF.

It's safe, as long as you don't actually have water in the fuel. You check that by draining the HFCM into a clear bottle, and looking through the fuel. If there is water, it will look like bubbles on the bottom of the container. But so long as it is a false positive light, there is no harm in driving it.
