cracking the turbo isnt as much of a possibility as you might think. the turbo would have to get glowing red hot and then dunked into the water for it to even begain to crack unless the exhaust side wasnt great to start with. I solved to water injestion problem by running a snorkle i didnt put up picks of that the only time i run with out it is on the dyno.

once the boost hits 5lbs it really pulls hard till the 10 psi limit. I just put electric fans on the truck and man did that really help with the engine response.

I have seen a couple Garrett turbos crack that never saw water. They are mounted on top of the engine so no way they were dunked in water.. So it really is as possible as you might think.

Nope, no thin casting. Put it this way, the ones I've seen crack didn't see near the abuse as mine sees and less miles. Mine sees high boost(60+psi drive and 25-30psi boost due to boost leaks), 1600+* EGTs, and has 330k miles. It's just something that happens by luck I guess. I would only assume that water would make it happen easier though, that's why if I turbo my 5.0 like I want to then the turbos will be under the hood.

it must be a freak thing. thats nuts, alot of performance companies are doing remote mount. i know alot of C6 1000+HP cars have this system and one of my friends has a twin turbo Viper GTS with remote mounts.

I don't think many twin turbo super cars such as the Vettes or Vipers that are running 1000hp are driving around where water may be lurking either. LOL

Yeah, those type cars don't generally have to drive through water puddles.

Could you wrap the turbo housing with the header wrap stuff or something? To keep it from thermal shock or maybe build a splash shield.

im going to wrap the whole exhaust system and turbo to keep the heat in the turbo. i dont think a wrap would help much because water could still get in there, but i dont know.

You should never use header wrap on anything, including headers.
