Great forum, lots of information here. I'm a long time Ford owner, currently own an '07 Expedition Limited EL 4x4 and an '08 F-450 KR pickup. I usually trade every 4 years. I want to order an Expedition EL King Ranch 4x4 but I was hoping the 6.2 would be available. Should I wait a while to see if it will be offered or go ahead and order? I'm afraid Ford will change the Expedition for the worse (downsize or drop) if I wait for '12.
if you want the 6.2, wait. there is no proof it is coming though.
the 6.2 is very likely to come to the Expedition. But for now Ford is playing things close and not telling us what is forthcoming. Look to the F-150. if the 6.2 goes mainstream in there, the Expy is 99% likely to get it as well.
sounds like you are going to have to wait for a 2012 model though really

I would expect to see a redesign in 2012 along will new engines. I am also in the market for a 2011 Expedtion but I am afraid of a redesign the next year. I might wait for the 2012 model year. Start watching the Facebook page of Ford Motor Co and watch for the auto shows late 2010 and 2011. There might be a new one for 2012. I would expect a 6.2 and a 4.4 diesel and a Ecoboost soon. The King Ranch is hard to resist though. I like the new rims for 2011 and the Golden Bronze Metallic. I might buy one. Good Luck!
It might be a better idea to buy the tried and true '11 and give the new design a few years to work the bugs out. I'll probably wait a few months after they hit the showrooms to see if Job 2 has any changes.
I agree. That's why I bought the 2010 F-150 instead of the 2009. The 2010 have larger headrests in the second row compared to the 2009. I like the bodystyle of the 2007-present Expeditions. I don't know what Ford would do to change the look. It looks pretty modern and up to date. As for the Lincoln Navigator, it doesn't have the new Lincoln corporate grille. I do wish it had a 6.2 liter and 4.4 diesel in it. Hopefully that will come true. They did have spy pics of the 4.4 diesel in it.
After working at a tier 2 supplier for Ford that made engine components, the talk was that the F-150 line and Expedition line would have 2 engine choices, neither of them a diesel or the 6.2, the 6.2 may be a special package engine choice like the Raptor.
The talk was that the F-150/Expedition would have a base engine of the 3.5l V6 ecoboost and the optional engine will be the coyote V8 otherwise known as the 5.0 32V TiVCT that the are putting in the Mustang.
Expect the V6 to be about 350hp/350Tq with 23mpg and the V8 somewhere around 400hp/400Tq.
They expect to keep the 6.2 as the gas engine for the Superduty family only.
I guess whenever Ford redesigns it for 2012. I expect Ford's version of the Chevy Avalanche that has been rumored that is based on the 2012 Expedition EL. It is supposed to replace the discontinued Explorer Sport Trac. Along with the restyling of the Expedition, the F-150 should get its restyling for 2012.
