my factory cd/radio has been acting up. the cd player sometimes rejects cd's. i'd like to replace it with another factory radio. are any of the newer models interchangable? thanks.

There are lots of websites that can help you with that, but check out crutchfields.com. Enter your truck year and model and it will show you what will fit. I just swapped out my factory radio for a Pioneer GPS radio. I got the adapter wiring plug that simply snapped into the factory harness. I will be checking out the steering wheel control adapter next.

The Super Duty radios are year specific. The same one can be used in a 99-04 and 05+. If you have a 2000 you have to go with one from 99-04, those are a Din & 1/2, 05+ uses a dual din. The one that displays the artist and song is the kind I just put in my 05 250. You have to look for the word "TEXT" on the front of the radio. If it has it it will show the info if it's burned into the CD. Only newer CD's have that capability, older ones do not.

I just put a clarion in my 06. My cd player stopped working. I bought it at crutchfields and it took me about 30 to 45 minutes to put in.

Don't go to a junk yard, you will pay as much there as you would a Pioneer. I got mine off of Ebay and it works great. Only paid $100 for a premium 6 discer.

I also got the '06 Escape radio. It is the Audiophile model that has higher power output and MP3 capability along with an in-dash 6 CD changer. There are some threads on it around here somewhere that you can search for.

I had to buy an adapter (the plugs are different on the radio) from replacementradios.com, but the unit is a direct replacement. I found mine on eBay for just under $150 and I am very happy with it.

No, that's just for CD info. I think the newer radios in the 09+ years do but they have a special antenna.
