79 custom progressive coil spring - source?

Does anybody know of a spring manufacturer that makes a progressive rate coil spring for 78-79 Broncos w/ 6" lift? Even if its a custom order, that would be ok. I'm looking for something really flexy like the Wild Horses springs for the early Bronco. My coils are limiting my flex big time right now...

79 custom progressive coil spring - source?

Well, since no one else has answered yet I'll throw my $0.02 in. I dont have the specifics, but I read in Petersons 4Wheel magazine last fall/winter sometime that they put 37" tires on a 78-9 bronco using just 4 1/2" lift I beleive (and cutting alot of fender out). They used variable rate coil springs for an early bronco 66-77. The springs are the same size roughly betweent the early bronco and big bronco but the big bronco's had heavier gauge springs. So the 6" variable rate springs were compressed to a 4.5" lift if I remember correctly. They said it helped the ride out. I am sorry I dont have the specifics, just something I remember glancing at in the store once. Just remember if your using 66-77 springs that you need to subtract an inch or two from the lift.

79 custom progressive coil spring - source?

yeah... i'd rather just get springs for the 79... I called the guys at Wild Horses who sell an awesome progressive rate coil for the EB... those springs are bent by Betts Spring out of Concord, CA, so I'll give them a call.

Anyone who's interested feel free to email me. Maybe we can get a group discount. Again, that would be for a 78-79 style CUSTOM progressive rate coil spring providing 6" lift... (if you're sick of no flex in the aftermarket company springs...)

Count me in... if you can get the 78-79 progressive springs I would be interested. I plan on installing a 6" lift myself also using the superflex extended radius arms and goodyear 37x12.5x15 MTR tires. Also, is there any 6" taller arched rear springs that have a softer ride? I wish companies would advertise spring rates... I am too lazy to call them and ask (not to mention my phone is currently disconnected lol). I am not positive but I think the superflex extended radius arms would also smooth the ride some being 12" longer and providing more flex and correcting spring angles. But they arent cheap and I wouldnt do it for that reason alone! But I cant wait to get em myself. Good luck trying to get those var. rate springs.

Cool, 78bigbronco... I've got the axle already, so I'm motivated to find the coils! I'll keep you in the loop. My email is kuss@kusscave.com for further reference.

As far as the 6" rear leaf springs go, I went to National Spring down in El Cajon, CA. I am VERY pleased with the finished product, although the customer service is a little lacking. Unfortunately, that's too common in the offroad world. They will need all kinds of info from you, including the weight of the rear of your truck... so you know they're building them right! They are an 11-leaf spring pack and they are SUPER flexy. I've had mine 4 yrs and no sagging at all. I don't run any sort of traction bar and I've never had an axle wrap problem. I've got a great video of those springs in action... maybe I'll find the time to get it email ready!
