2010 Headrests suck - need replacements

The 2010 driver/passenger headrests are bent forward way too much. I know they say its a safety factor for whiplash but it is terribly uncomfortable.

Why drive for years in discomfort for the chance you might get rear ended.

You cannot sit with a proper posture with these headrests, no exaggerating. My back is always hurting during and after driving.

Any headrests on the after market I can use or maybe the headrests of another yr EXPY?

Thanks!

While you're looking recline the seat a couple of notches. If too upright the headrests smack you in the back of the head. These are still rods inserted in the seats I assume? Reforming the angle should work.

I would probably try to buy it at a local dealer. There is a small chance they have changed the design of the replacement 07 headrests to match the 2010's pitch. Also might be worth it to take one out and take it to an upholstery shop and see if they can bend it a bit or replace the bars.

I took mine out and put them in backwards. They were making my neck hurt and I had to recline the seat too far back to make the headrests comfortable.

Here is the solution to the headrest problem..

Tools required

2 people
2 pieces of cardboard
one small piece of plywood
one 2ft length of square or round pipe just big enough to fit over headrest pole

Instructions

1. Remove headrests
2. place one piece of cardboard on the ground
4. place headrest on cardboard
5. cover head rest with second piece of card board
6. place plywood on top of headrest
7. have one person kneel on the plywood to hold the headrest in place
8. have the other person slide the pipe over the pole and bend it down about 1/2" or as desired
9. reinstall head rest and enjoy your 2010 expedition

I have a feeling that your solution may change a bit when the 2011's come out with DVD screens built into the back of each headrest.

Probably need to then deconstruct them, bend the bars and reconstruct. That may then make the angle of the screen wrong. It's always something.......

You can get them for cheap just have to search around a little. If you want to take a chance in breaking one of the bars or both while trying to bend them then you should go with his solution.

Unless you are King Kong I say the changes of breaking them using this method are slim to none..

This is the strangest logic I have ever seen.

'why take a chance at breaking them' - why does this matter if you can get them for 'cheap'?

Why not attempt to fix what you have for free THEN if it breaks you buy them for 'cheap'.?
