hey redman84 i have been searching the internet for a 5 speed swap info thread and yours is by far the best. I am very mechanically inclined but i have never swaped a auto for a manuel yet and i was reading and it helps alot but i have some questions. i was wondering what all should i get from a doner truck and what all should i get new i dont have a place to put a doner truck i am staying in a rv park in san leon texas which is by texas city. So i would have to go to the junk yard to get my doner parts. Maybe you can help me out as i need it. I found a tranny from the junk yard here that they say works for 450 but you said your friend also gave you yours in college station how much did he charge and what all does he do to it does it come rebuilt or what. thanks man hope we can help eachother out my truck is a 96 ford f350 7.3 powerstroke and it has a 4 door cab so does that mean i need to yank the drive shaft of a nother vehicle what is also is the same size cab and bed?

You'll need driveshafts from the correct cab/trans truck, or you'll need to have yours modified.

For the swap you'll need:
Trans
clutch/flywheel
Cross member
manual pedal assembly
trans hump (or cut a hole in the auto hump for the shifter)
Manual T-case shift bracket

I feel like I'm forgetting something, but that's all I can think of right now. The only new parts I used for my swap was a clutch and flywheel.

The trans will work.
I dont think the pedals work.
I dont think the driveshafts would work.
Shifter and t-case shifter should work.

I'll try and dig up the wiring when I get some time. Or, you could search for Rebilld's write up. I know it's there. I think the 4&5 pin will need to be moved to 14&15 in the trans harness, and something needs soldered for the cruise to work.
