Horrible accident - Accord vs. F350

This is a terrible thing but it is good to know our trucks serve us well in the worst of circumstances. Note the photo of the truck after the crash.

ksl.com - 5 killed in head-on collision in Weber County

Condolences to the families.

Very sad to see those photos of the aftermath and the family and friends.
As a parent I can imagine how hard that must be to deal with.

Slow down you young drivers and drive safe.

When I first got my truck, the first thoughts through my head were "Wow, I pray that nobody ever gets in front of me and I can't stop". They're big, heavy, and hard.

When you look at the pics and see where the Honda tried to pass, it's crazy. Those things take like a mile to get from 50 to 70.

Wow! My prayers go out to their families! That is a very tough thing to take esp that young. Sometimes I think why I am driving my lexus daily instead of the truck, esp seeing cars getting smashed to nothing by big vehicles.

Very sad indeed. Condolences to the families.

I don't know what year the SD was but I guess it didn't have that extra bumper down low to keep us from driving over little cars? What year did Ford introduce those?

Jason, if I recall correctly, they came on the Excursion when they were released back in the day.. I would bet that Ford put 'em on the '99 SD as well...

I hope somebody can confirm that though.

Wow, very tragic! This is so true though, it should serve as a reminder to slow down and obey the laws. I feel for the driver of the SD and his family that will have to live with the sight of that horrible day in their minds, and of course my prayers to the families of the victims. And to get the news that your daughter had been killed in an accident VIA text message is just horrible! The father, who had just lost his little girl due to an accident where her only fault was poor judgment on who to ride with, did mention that accidents happen and that nobody was at fault. I understand that for his sake he would possibly need to see it that way, or maybe he was making the true statement that the S350 driver was not at fault here, but there was indeed fault and a lesson to be learned here. Anybody here who is a parent, please listen to my words very carefully and heed the advice. It is not enough for you to just teach your children to become good drivers, you also have to make sure that they do not get into a car with somebody that should not be driving. This includes somebody that has been known to have accidents, sped, etc., or is impaired in any way, shape, or form. Your most valuable possession is your family, protect them. If somebody broke into your home and into your daughter's bedroom in the middle of the night, you know what you would do in a heartbeat. This is potentially just as dangerous. Now, I am not going to say that the father is partly to blame for letting his daughter into the Accord, he may not have known the driving history of the driver- perhaps the driver did not even have a bad history. But for the parents out here on the forum, it is up to you to teach your children the dangers of riding with a reckless driver, and is a topic that is all too often overlooked or under emphasized. My heart goes out to all involved.

I think it is just the lower part of the bumper. Could be wrong. It may look like two pieces because of the plastic bumper trim cover.

Very sad incident, though if that had happened in Australia, people would be up in arms, then F350s would probably get banned from being sold.
