HPOP STC fitment kit question...

So far so good. Question on the HPOP STC fitting kit. The instructions indicate that a new dowel is included in the kit. Mine did NOT include a new dowel. The existing one is undamaged. Does anyone see a problem with using the old one?

Further, the kit comes with more o-rings then I have removed... are the various sizes for different years/models? Or am I totally missing something. I matched up the two I needed that slide into the slot on the engine side of the HPOP, and the one on the jam nut on the STC was already installed (the new one). I have two additional o-rings of smaller size that I do not see go anywhere. Are these extra for other setups?

Thanks,
Matt

The "F" kit - the second one. The one BPD sells: http://www.bulletproofdiesel.com/Pro...ctCode=6000034

4C3Z-9B246-F now includes all o-rings as well as the screen for the IPR valve, as well as everything that's included in 4C3Z-9B246-E.

I just had to have the STC fitting changed on my truck. Has anyone had the new and improved design fail?

i have seen the new style fail a few time. it has to do with damaging the o-ring durring install from the way it looked. it happens with in a few 100 miles if it does.

reuse the dowl wont hert a thing

Let me apologize for the hi-jack ahead of time here, but I have a question pertinent to this discussion that doesn't seem to warrant a new thread of its own.

I'm going to pull the HPOP cover while I'm replacing my oil cooler. However, since I don't have a HPOP leak at the moment, I'm considering simply installing the support bracket without changing out the STC. Is this a stupid idea, or a valid option?

The answer will probably be right there in black and white after I pop the cover and see what I'm dealing with, but I guess it can't hurt to have some idea of what I'm getting into before then.

the support bracket kit is no longer made, so in less you have one your out o' luck.
if you do have the bracket, do you have the bolts.
Also the bracket fix will still fail. they do seem to last longer though.

I have the international C92 kit. The bracket is in there, and so are the bolts.

Whatever time doing this would save you, it saves me at least 5 times that much.

I'm that slow, but I'm not afraid to do my own work.

PS: I just finished bolting the new oil cooler back in the truck. Tomorrow its under the HPOP cover.

Have fun!

A job like that would take me three full days, the first time.
