Looking for a quiet performance muffler

I have an open Y-pipe on my 2000 Expedition Eddie Bauer. I installed a Flowmaster Super 44 muffler, which sounds good, but it's a bit too loud for my taste.

Can anyone reccomend a good flowing, but quiet performance muffler? I've heard that the Dynomax mufflers are good and are the most quiet out there.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

It needs to be 3", center in/out

Thanks.

I came across this magnaflow on Summit's website.

This is a 3 chamber muffler and supposedly is designed to cut down on interior resonance.

Thoughts?

If you want quiet get away from chambered mufflers, you want a straight through design with damping material inside.

Better yet, get a WickedFlow. Trust me, nothing else is quieter for the size.

I have a single 70 series Flowmaster (3") on my 302. It's got that Flowmaster sound, but is pretty mild.

Thumbs up

X3 on the Flowmaster 70 series BB2. I replaced the factory 2 into 1 muffler/system on my 460 with a Flowmaster 3" catback system (I used their 2.5" to 3" y-collector to join the primary pipes under the cab). The system is well made and includes quality hardware. The muffler sounds great (factory non-catalyst truck so it will be louder than a truck with cats) and seems to make more torque. As an added bonus, my highway mileage increased by 1.5 to 2 mpg (11ish to 13ish). Well worth the $300 the system cost(shipped)
