Question Looking at a 2001/02 F250

Hey guys, I'm Damo, I'm from Australia and I've been admiring some F250s, I'm looking at getting into one of these trucks because of work reasons, I'm an apprentice mechanic and unfortunately my current car cannot fit my tools inside it.

I've been looking at the 2001/2002 F250, the one with the 4.2L Inline 6 diesel, I'd like to know if anyone knows or has any information/reviews about these? I'm not sure if those specific models where sold in America, they where built in RHD in Brazil.

Here are the links to the oens I'm looking at:

2001 FORD F250 XL Private Cars For Sale in VIC - carsales.com.au

2002 FORD F250 XL Private Cars For Sale in QLD - carsales.com.au

2002 FORD F250 XL Private Cars For Sale in WA - carsales.com.au

2001 FORD F250 XL Cars For Sale in VIC - carsales.com.au - carsales.com.au

I think you guys got this one over in America:

2001 FORD F250 XLT Private Cars For Sale in VIC - carsales.com.au

But because I'm on a probationary drivers license, I'm not allowed to drive V8s

Thanks much in advance

Ford doesnt have any mini diesels in america. Do they classify a v8 diesel as v8 on the prohibited list? You may be able to talk to them and that will be allowed since its not made for power, its made for you do buissness out of.

I think in england some of the regulations they have on similar things diesels dont apply over a certain weight.

Yes, even though its diesel its still banned because its under the "8 or more cylinders" rule. We used to have a power to weight ratio rule, but as of 2007 the rules changed and introduced that specific clause.

I tried to find some info. Apparently there isnt much ford to that truck. The RHD conversion was done by another company which is why some of the dash design is totaly diffrent. The engine transmission combo isnt something ford put in. Again im guessing importer installed but i couldnt find any info on the engine tranny combo.

On the truck somewhere there should be info about the RHD conversion and who did it. You may be able to lookup whoever did it and quality of there stuff from that year. Thats about all i can say.

The only information I can find on them is that they're factory built RHD in Brazil, not an importer conversion:

07/25/2001 - Ford's iconic F250 and F350 are back in Australia - bigger, tougher and stronger than ever before. .: News

After they stopped selling them down here, they're all done by specialists and importers now, but I think they are close to factory. Here is a link to an importer and converter:

http://www.harrisonmotoringgroup.com.au/fseries/

These are very close to factory but they start at around $150,000.

Apparently you found out more about them than i could.

All else i could find out was that the 4.2L was a limited run and replaced with a 3.9L no info on if ford made eather motor, or why the change. Its posable emissions caused the engine change.

Its quite hard to find anything about it, theres no information or reviews of the trucks online, at all.
