He's going to keep the 2 bbl. He wants to use the 65 as a daily driver. If he wants to "play" he can use the J2 Jeep pickup I built for him 5 years ago. It has a balanced, blueprinted, ported and polished 401 big-block in it, but only gets 5 mpg.......
We've been trying to find another engine (small block) for it. I've got a 68 AMX ( a tru AMX...) Pro stock drag car we want to put the 401 in! And your right, the 401 is a BEAST!
Crap........I broke Mikey's truck......I went to move it Saturday and when I went from Park to Reverse the driveline broke.......Too much horsepower???
Morning Evan! I think we may have to either switch cams, or go to a 4bbl. This Cleveland has a definite "lope" at low speeds. I gave Mike the cam that I had for another project that never got started and it's just a mite "lumpy". The u-joint stayed together, but the Yoke on the rear of the driveline just snapped!
Well........It's Done!!! Almost......Still have some carb issues to deal with, but Mikey got the paperwork and is gone to DMV today to get it titled so he can start DRIVING IT!
Total cost involved $1,900 ( including the cost of the pickup) He now has a new engine, transmission, power steering, power brakes, and all the "stuff" necessary to paint it.
Still having problems with the carb, and instead of Mikey waiting for me to scrounge up the parts to rebuilt the Holley I was gonna give him he went out today and bought a brand new Holley 2bbl carb and is now waiting for me to come down and tune it for him.........What a deal! Wait a week for me to put a carb together for him for FREE, or spend $350 for a new carb?
Eh, I can understand being antsy about getting the truck running. My wife gets mad at me because I get impatient about parts for my truck when I want them pretty often.
