Just got a econoline pickup first gen

Body and insides are pretty rust free! The only problem is that it has sat for 20 years. Alot of cleaning and replacing to do. Red body with upper half of cab white.

Are parts still readily available for these? I saw dennis carpenter. Not sure on the engine, might be 144, 170, 200, or 250. I'll count the freeze plugs when it is sunny out tomorrow. Here's hoping its a 200/250

Planning on tearing her down to the bottom and rebuilding 'er. I'll post pics and progress here. Any tips or suggestions are welcomed!

As original 1961/67 Econoline: 1961/64: 144 I-6 / 1961/67: 170 I-6.

No 200's or 250's were installed in any year Econoline.

200 introduced 1964, used in 1964/83 Passenger Cars, 1973/74 Bronco's.

250 introduced in 1969, used in Passenger Cars only thru 1980.

Yeah, I am just hoping that it might have either the 200 or 250 because it isn't the stock engine, he said that it was replaced and that this is the second motor and that it is a straight 6 but doesn't know/remember much else. Haven't had a chance to go get it, still looking for a trailer to haul it.

From what you say though, chances are it was just replaced with another 144/170. Oh well, I hear they can get good mpg too. I don't need a racer, I'd rather have a mpg'er

When I go look, I'll try and pop the cover out in the cab and see if I can see the plugs to guess if its a 2xx or 144/170
