What is everyones oil preference
It's been awhile since I've owned a Bronco (picked up a 96 5.8L) and I was wondering what motor oil to run. I was thinking a full synthtic but really don't know what weight to run, it's has a little over 150000k on it right now.
Any suggestion would be great.......Thanks Tom

Lots of topics and I won't go to deep. Just remember that diesel oil was reformulated and you need to check and make sure you do not use a FA-4 oil. You will notice Delo has a 15w40 HD and a 15w40 LE oil. Newer diesel engines have different requirements and the FA-4 is not backwards compatible.

Yes that is correct but only applies to oils CK4/ SN or FA 4/CK4 oils marked CK4 do still have about 1000ppm but are now diesel only rated. Pay attention Rotella and Delo have two containers that look the same but specs are different. It has no doubt already caused the wrong oils to be used.

A 1996 351 should have a roller cam. The zinc is mainly to help out with flat tappet cams, but you don't have that complication. Zinc reduces catalyst efficiency if enough gets into it, by blow-by or other means.
I have 2 3.8l V6s (1996 and 2003) and had 2 4.0l V6s (1993 and 1996), all with roller lifters. I use Mobil 1 0w30 in all of them, to good effect. They start easier in the cold.
SN is the latest gas engine certification. I want to say SG was current when your Bronco was built, so anything newer should be fine.
