Where does this vacuum line goto?

Sorry for the delay, but I've been rather busy and haven't had a chance to get outside and take the pictures. I did tonight, and here they are... better late than never...

they run into a tree at the intake manifold
I am pointing at the Brake booster vacuum line where it goes to the tree.

Alright so all day yesterday and today I got fed up and started yanking out all my lines =P went to the store and bought all new lines of course. A few questions... first what is this?
There were to plugs into it one of which was for the AC that I tore out. I think another line goes into the cab...i'm guessing for the cruise control maybe?
Second question...
What is this tree for? And can I safely remove it? Its all one piece to the tree on the right which goes to the carb and egr.
