Sounds like cold starts and short trips are the norm for the running of your truck. If so then you will be pretty much chasing your tail trying to improve the mpg. As AB said, a properly functioning and tuned feedback system is about as good as it gets.

the SCV and feedback carb are well explained on the poney carb, classic in-lines and fordsix sites. Is that the questioning point? That's about pre '68 ford dizzy/carb feedback system. When ever I C "feedback" it reminds me of those pages...
(this post just popped up after 1 yr. abandonment so not sure my referral fits)

"...a few trans questions in a pm..."
Sure, most of us take PM's. I may not B the best answer giver: I missed it wuz an '86 U got. The feedback I thought of - spark control valve and load-a-matic wrked together in the pre '68 'small six' world (1 I know a lill of) carb/dizzy. Yours is a 240/300 'big six', a lill different. Actually came w/the DSII, no?

AND of course transmissions R something even more different.

Yes, never saw any places with such detail as the 3 (except CB - but that's 4 my/other's Bronk).

Hi Rusty!
Welcome to the site AND forum! U R in an antique thread about a dizzy conversion. Some 1 may B along that can help (I doubt it as it's so old here) U but that would B more by chance than anything else. Sounds like you changed something & need a schematic, no? My stuff is too old to help on a newer rig.
Fordifacation is a site w/lots of ford wiring diagrams (if no 1 shows up here)...

The water temp and oil pressure wires are red/white and white/red respectively.

The YF was used in early engines. It was a pre emissions/economy carb. The YFA has vapor return. They are similar yet very different in appearence...
