I had the same thing happen to a 2003 Expedition. Like Mark said above it turned out to be the fuel pump. It is suppose to keep positive pressure in the line so you have fuel at the engine when you start the vehicle. My fuel pump was not maintaining that pressure causing the fuel to drain back into the tank. New fuel pump installed and it cranks everytime now.
