6.0L diesel, I think the alternator might be bad (going to have it test tomorrow). If it's bad, should I just order an OE from Ford? Or is there a high quality aftermarket alternator that is the general concensus around here?
I have done many searches and decided that you do not want to go "cheap". The first decision is whether or not you want to upgrade the output. I went with a 190A DC Power alternator (I wanted more amps than stock). Very pleased so far. There are many good ones, but the best value that I found was with DC Power.
If you have a day or so I would check with a local rebuild shop. Normally a little cheaper and you can look at the guy fixing it. In my little world I would rather pay someone local and be able to walk in his front door if something is wrong.
