No, the springs for the fronts are the same size for all F1/F-100s 48-56: 1.75" x 36 - according to the Chassis Parts Illustrations Catalogue.

However something in the back of my mind says that after 52 there were fewer, but stronger, leaves in the effies. I know that's true of the back ones. But that's ok as long as they have the same total load rating - and they should.

Well according to "Charles" They would be up to 3'' shorter.

According to my book, both the 48-52 and 53-55 1/2 tons all used 8 leaf springs, up front, but the part numbers for full assemblies and individual leaves, plus clamps and hardware, are all different. I'm going to say they won't interchange.
