TPS? Transmission problem

Today I backed my truck into the driveway. I unloaded the kitchen table that I was carrying home, and when I went to move the truck I pull the gear selector into drive and it was like the truck was in neutral. I had no forward gear. Reverse engaged fine, just would not go into forward gear. Finally I pulled it down to gear selection 1 and it engaged. I drove forward and shifted into 2nd with no problem, then into 3rd with no problem, and then it shifted into overdrive with no problem.

Truck drove fine from there. I then stopped again and put the truck in park and it worked fine. When I got back home and tried it again it happened the same way.

It doesn't feel like there is a problem in the tranny, I think maybe the gear selector down on the tranny may be going bad.

Any thoughts on this? Thanks in advance.

the TPS wont effect gear shifting.
Sounds like you have a linkage problem to me.

I have no clue how they worked.
I've never owned a ford with an automatic.

Well it seems that there is a manual gear selector switch. The cable from the gear selector lever goes down to this switch and switchs the gear. Anyone ever had any problem with this switch? Thanks in advance.

Does the shifter seem sloppy?? If so, Look under the dash to see if the shift cable has come loose, very common problem
