I added an Auto Dimming Mirror from my totaled Lightning to my 93 F150XL. It is an awesome option. I just spliced the wiring harness into truck. Black/pink to reverse, black to ground, & white/purple to keyed 12v source.

On my 2006 F-250 I found that one wire was hot (+12v) (red and yellow), Ground (solid black), and one that is hot when in reverse (black and red). The reason for the hot when in reverse wire is to not allow the mirror to dim while in reverse.

Didn't Eddie Bauer editions have a Compass built into the mirror as well? Or was that in the dash?
Also, saw OEM outside temp in an eddie bauer dash somewhere...jeez, I'll have to go looking now for'em!

I have the auto dimming mirror too. But I have 4% tint so no light ever gets to the light sensor. So if you have dark tint the mirror is kinda pointless. I've been wanting to swap it out for a newer one with temperature and compass.

Comforts & Conveniences...

The auto dim mirror was part of a package (on Bronco & F-Series) for the 1994 & 1995 model years only that also included the dual lighted vanity mirror visors. Listed as "Light & Convenience Group A", it listed for $202. In 1996 it disappeared from the sales brochure. 1994 to 1996 Broncos (Eddie Bauer edition only) had this packaged with the aforementioned overhead outside temp & compass console.

Also of note to those of you prowling the salvage yards: Many of the 1996 Broncos from about the last half of the model year forward also had the turn indicators in the outside mirrors. Keep your eyes open: If you find some & do not want them I am sure someone on here would like them!

dn.

My 94 Supercab XLT has the auto dimming mirror. Very nice option although I haven't looked to see what the wiring looks like.

hope this helps

If your mirror is like mine in my bronco then there will be a positive, neg, and a reverse line. It ties into the overhead console wiring from there. If you don't have a console then maybe a previous owner thought he could upgrade by putting that mirror in.
