Injectors vs. Turbo Question

Rosewood Diesel Shop offers stage 2 injectors that are 160 cc with 80% nozzles.
I know the general consensus has been that stage 2 injectors will kill a stock turbocharger. However, I thought that numbers for stage 2 used to be 180 cc with stock nozzles? And stage 2.5 used to be 180 cc with 80% nozzles.
That's all beside the point.
The real question is will 160 cc with 80% nozzles kill a stock turbo the way 180 cc with stock nozzles kills a turbo?
Or will the 160 cc w/ 80% be fine with the stock turbo?

I'd like to see data of nozzle size and cc size of all the "stages" and what defines them.

what data are you looking for? CC output per pulsewidth and ICP??

Trust me, 160/80's WILL kill a stock charger. these injectors killed an E99 turbo in a couple months time that was a very tight charger when the injectors were installed in the truck.. mine hasn't gone out yet, but it's getting close.. i will find you a link to a dyno video of my truck and let you listen to the stock turbo then tell me that driving it that hard won't kill it. lol

But the 160 cc w/ stock nozzles will not kill to stock turbo, quickly?
Jim, lists them as only 75hp difference with the right supporting mods.
i suppose that could be enough to make a difference.

I'd love to see your dyno video.

stage 1's are good for around 350hp w/ the stock turbo, an IC, and electric fuel. mine did 352hp/731tq on stage 1's.. maybe more power can be had w/ a D66 or something.. IMO the stage 1's is plenty to kill the stock turbo if your a very aggressive driver, but if your not seeing 30psi of boost constantly then it will be ok for quite awhile. i drove mine for around a year and a half w/ stage 1's and drove it like i stole it. mighta been a little longer..

here is the dyno video. sounds to me like the turbo wants to fly apart, but tell me what you think. lol

ya.. the turbo cries for mercy with stage 2's, BUT i have been running these injectors since the first weekend of October last year and the turbo isn't dead yet so i'd say it's worth it.

What exactly are the specs on your 2's?
How long have you been running them with the right tunes?

mine are 160cc/80%... i have been running them with the live tuning since April 10th, but i saw NO increase in boost since i have a giant boost leak. so who knows how much more i'm putting the turbo through now than before.

160's with stock nozzles are stage 1's from Jim.

Some other guys do stage 1's, and they are only 140.
Some others do 160's though also.

Pretty much every shop has their own 'stages'. We've tried to be consistant to make shopping easier but there are some differences.
I've limited my Stage-1 and Stage-2 to 160 cc since a stock 17° HPOP works well to support that cc range. 180 cc really max out a 17° pump.

IMO Stage-1 will kill a stock turbo, too. The guys that have their foot to the floor running hot tunes every mintue they are in the truck will trash the stock turbo in a week.
Drive with good tunes and only 'use' the power on occasion when you need/want to and your stock turbo with Stage-1 will live for years.
Same goes for Stage-2. I know several guys that run them with a stock turbo for 3 or 4 years now. All depends on how hard you are in the throttle.

But yet for some reason my stock turbo lives on... i think some of it is also taking care of the turbo by not shutting it down under hot temps and such. let the EGTs cool to as close to 300* as you can before shutting it down and that itself will help your turbo live longer as well.
