Heads Up - Ford CD Player costs $730!!!!!!!

I posted about this a while back in the Super Duty forum and people could hardly believe it (some needed proof). The fact is that if you are ordering your truck, simply deleting the Ford CD player saves you $730. If you order the Ford 6 disc CD player, (which a lot of people are having trouble with) you are in effect paying a $1000 for it. You can buy a pretty sweet aftermarket stereo set up for a $1000.

Here's the actual section from the Ford website build and price area
Audio
Radio: Premium ETR AM/FM Stereo w/Cassette/CD
Includes clock, premium sound with amplifier and 4-speakers. STD

Radio: ETR AM/FM Stereo w/Cassette/Clock
Deletes standard single CD. Includes 4-speakers.$-730

Radio: Prem. ETR AM/FM Stereo w/6-Disc CD Changer
Does not include cassette. Includes clock, premium sound with amplifier and 4-speakers. $270
Just something to think about if you're going to order your truck. If you're buying one off the lot, most are ordered with the CD, so I don't know what you'd do about it.

I'm not sure if the same is true for the F150 and Ranger.

Heads Up - Ford CD Player costs $730!!!!!!!

waxy, are you sure thats correct?

the truck i ordered came w/ the factory single cd. no extra charge to the sticker price.

if you deleted it you were credited $190

-Electronic AM/FM Stereo with Cassette/Clock ($190.00)

or the upgrade was

-Premium Electronic AM/FM Stereo with 6-Disc CD Changer and Clock $210.00

i looked into scrapping the factory player when i ordered it, but for $190 savings it wasn't worth it to me.

are you sure that isn;t replacement cost? my radio in my 2000 explorer was something like $600 when it died? luckily covered under warranty.

sorry to question what you're sayin, i guess you were right...no one would believe you

CrazyWilly, the only thing I can think of is that those are Canadian numbers.

So $730 = ~$450US
$270= ~$170US

The site I quoted is www.Ford.ca. Go to the F350 build and price. I certainly don't mind being questioned, that's why we're all here, but if you do go to the site, I'm confident you'll see I'm not making this up. I can even send you the build sheet and price list for my truck if you'd like. Post your findings here if you do check it out.

yeah waxy- you're right!

must be the diff b/t canadian vs. u.s. interesting.

it seems however that you guys get a better deal by deleting it than we do. we only get $190 back....versus you getting $730 canadian ($450). wonder why that is? i am pretty sure its the same radio.

i definately would have deleted it up with those prices!

p.s. if you haven't noticed we have nearly identical trucks. well, i should say, we will have. i ordered mine a long time ago and hope to get it any day now. (its in a lot about 1 hr from the dealership waiting for delivery via car carrier.) looks like a great truck...can't wait to get it!

You will LOVE your new truck, they're worth the wait and very penny.

You've got excellent taste in trucks.

I love my CC, it's roomy and really convenient, but they are considerably more money and definately more of a hassle to drive around town.

As for F250 vs. F350, well it's been beat to death in the SD forum, basically the same truck but for tires and minor details, biggest thing is Ford's GVWR rating.

Let me know your thoughts on your new truck when it arrives!

I got buckets full of patience!
I just don't like having to use them!
I'm saving them for when I really need them!
today makes 14 weeks exactly for me of course thats combined waiting for both orders.
Theres a guy on here thats been waiting 20 weeks last I heard
and that was about a month ago.
I wonder what happened to him.

The doctor screams Patients I said i need more patients!
The guy tells his boss I can't come in today, there's something wrong with my eyes.
Whats wrong with your eyes? his boss says.
Well I just can't see coming in today.

Hang in there I would like to see the pictures of your truck when you get it.

Heads Up - Ford CD Player costs $730!!!!!!!

another local dealer just got in a near identical truck, except its black instead of blue. blk was my 2nd choice (close second). if my dealer cannot give me a better assessment by tomorrow, i am going to give up & buy the other truck. i feel bad, b/c i like my salesman....but seriously...i got to get on w/ things here.

i certainly don't have your patience!
