Upgrades for 2002 Eddie Bauer Expy

I just bought a 2002 4x2 Eddie Bauer and was looking at what aftermarket items are available for upgrades.

I contacted K&N and they said they don't have a FIPK out yet for the 2002 and Hypertech said they are just finally wrapping up the 2001 PowerProgrammer and haven't started on the 2002 yet.

I am putting a flowmaster cat back system on it this weekend and have decided on some new rims and tires to get but would also like to find some other things that are available.

It seems like most online shops don't have 2002 inventory listed or else nothing is available yet.

Here are some things I am looking for:

chip mod
air intake kit
low profile hood shield
window vent visors
rear dust guard
door sill protectors

Thanks!

Mark

As for the "Intake kit" and the "Chip" it seems that you have already been talking to some of the best vendors. You may just have to wait on them

All the other items that fit 2001 should work here as well(no changes for 2002 body)

go to a local shop were you can put your hands on the visor vent, for example, and test fit it.

To do things "right", the chip and intake people have to certify their product with the EPA and CARB. So, even though there have been no obvious changes to the engines, the aftermarket still has to prove their product doesn't alter emissions for 2002.

Now, my opinion:
Hypertech is pulling your leg. They don't have a power-programmer for anything other than a '98 5.4L engine. They've been promising that the 2000 & 2001 models will be out "any time now" or "very soon". Evidentally, they measure time with a geological clock where "soon" is 1 or 2 million years.

For a chip, check out either Superchips or Diablo (both sold on this site). We've had a Superchip in our Expy for three years now and have had no problems. Performance improvement is notable with no adverse affect on mileage.

As for the FIPK, you can install the 2001 model on your 2002 and it should work just fine. Just remember that until K&N gets the certification number (for '02) you may not pass an emissions inspection.

The rest of your wish-list is going to depend a lot on personal taste. Most of the products are of similar quality, so buy what you like. :-)

Sorry to interrupt guys...

NoMo, would you happen to a "RUSH" fan? That underlined phrase is awfully close to some lyrics of a Rush song.

Okay, sorry for the interruption! Mark, listen to this guy. He knows his stuff!

Well, I'm usually in a hurry, but I try not to rush.

Sorry, no. I've heard of them but can't say that I've ever heard them.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. I will look into the Superchip and see about it, think NoMo is right about the Hypertech, called again the other day and got a different story.

So far I have ended up putting on a 3 chamber FlowMaster, bought some new wheels and tires (20" Keiser with Eagle GTII 285/50/20's), and a few other things.

I almost bought an AiRaid FIPK but decided to hold off and do a bit more research on it versus the AirForce and K&N. Any suggestions out there?

I am ending up really glad that I bought this instead of going with a Yukon. Not only did the X plan save me a LOT of $$$ but it seems to ride better and I got a lot more bang for the buck so to say.

Need to get it cleaned up from the weekend and take some pics of it, is there a place to post them on here?

Thanks again!

Mark

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 05-Feb-02 AT 10:42 AM (EST)]I have read all these boards for a long time before moding my expy and I can really say that I love all the mods so far in my signature. If I did not like them I would have them off the truck. So far so good. I want to get some IAS shocks soon and then maybe a JBH Header system. Hope this helps...
