Not sure about having to drain the fluid (girlfriends brother dropped the trans) . But IIRC the gasket is from Ford only, I checked everywhere to find the darn gasket. It cost me like 9 dollars from the one off of Arapahoe Rd. I replaced mine when I did a transmission swap. Some one will be around here in a minute to help ya out.

OK, thanks. I'll wait to read more. Seems to me that dropping the case would be necessary.

Something similar happen to this past weekend. I had just replaced filter, gasket and tranny fluid a week prior. Long story short I replaced Autozone gasket with dealer gasket lots more $$$$$ but torqued it at 120lbs.inch (10lbs ft) and solved my issue. OEM gasket is reusable will pay for it self in next or so tranny fluid and filter change......good luck....

No you don't. You can remove the extension housing from the case with the trans in the truck and replace the gasket.

The pan gasket has steel in it. The extension housing gasket is a piece of paper. Cost a buck or two.

hell thats one of them dam rubber gaskets get you a cork gasket and glue it to the pan and a small bead to seal it to the tranny and leat it dry overnight its hard to find a cork but i bet you someone can order you one i dont know why they went to them dam rubber gaskets for their to dam slippery and dont stick and seal good as cork does just bearly snug the bolts up past tight i mean bearly dont bare down on them or it will for sure leak and possibly warp your pan use a nut driver that will take a socket on it and tighten em with it so you dont over tighten em it would take an awdful lot of strength to overtighten it with a screwdriver with a socket unless you just purposely overtightened it using pliers with it but tight with the screwdriver socket it plenty to not leak ive never had a cork gasket leak but everytime i used rubber it always i mean always leaks i know a transmission shop who said he never had any luck with rubber ones either they just dont stick like that cork does and clings jus my two cents
