WOAH... WAIT... STOP...
so i was talking to a owner of a new 2011 mustang 5.0 he said his mustang has 415 HP. i told him he was high, we had a good laugh but i really thought he was wrong.
i looked it up. 412HP thats banging! why does the raptor with its end all be all 6.2 only have 400hp. its only lacking 10 pounds of torque to 6.2. wow whats going on
my truck has a disappointing 300 hp that nearly 60 of them are missing.
i have wondered why the 5.4 has been at the bottom of its class but never really cared untill now.
ford has shown its teeth and come out fighting now WHERES MY POWER!

Get some Detroit Rocker cams for your motor. you'll gain 20-30 RWHP from them alone. Good tuning could have you at about 275 RWHP with your truck + a CAI & Exhaust.
Cams are $700...and they give the truck that old school loping idle that sounds mean as hell. A guy on another F-150 site just got the FRPP Hot Rods installed in his truck. Wicked sounding.

These new 5.0L 4V's are no joke. Finally Ford has put out an engine that has the LSX guys shaking in their boots.
You want potential?
How's dipping into the 10's with bolt ons grab you.....

Thats awesome! Its great seeing the Mustang come back with a vengeance. Even the V-6 is no slouch. Camaro what? Challenger who? Ford is really stepping up their game. Though they have always been better. I would always chuckle when the neighbor kid would blow past my old F-150 with his "hemi". Guess whose truck isnt in the junkyard and is still chugging with 230,000 plus miles?

My truck has a 6.4L engine with two turbos, but only puts out 350 HP. And it weighs 8,000 lbs! It sure won't win many drag races, but it's rated to tow 15,000 lbs. Having towed over 11,000 lbs with it I can state that it's easily capable of it's rated capacity. Upgrade to an '08 F450 with 4.88 gears an the same engine things look worse: 9,000 lb truck and only 325 HP. Rated to tow 24,000 lbs though!
At my old job my work truck had a 15.2L Caterpillar inline 6 engine which had 435 HP. And it has moved a combined weight of over 79,000 lbs across mountains. Never did it fast, but it got the job done.
So while I completely agree that more power would make a better driving truck, especially while under load, NOT having class leading power doesn't necessarily make it less of a truck. I will admit I almost considered a Tundra for that amazing 5.7L engine, but then I came to my senses and realized that even with that much power it doesn't serve as a TRUCK as well as my last F150 or my current F250.
So let them be faster than me, that's not why I bought the truck. Guys like that simply can't win with me. Can't beat me in my truck simply because I'm not racing. On my motorcycle they don't stand a chance!
