Google and yahoo were useless on this search. I tried the TXPWD website but only found one mention of free fishing event at one specific lake. Last year there was a free fishing day or weekend for the whole state. My family and i will be coming down to the coast on Saturday. Can anyone tell me the date(s) or if TX plans to participate this year? T.I.A.

 

From what I can find it looks like JUNE 5th so it looks like you may be in luck

 

The first Saturday in June of each year is the annual Free Fishing Day and no person is required to have a fishing license or stamp endorsements while fishing on that day.

Hey y'all - up over here in TN I'm pushing for a whole herd of local G2G's on OUR Free Fishing Day (which is June 11th for 2011, and open even to non-residents) that would be one end of the state to the other.

Instead of a single BIG'N all in one spot this would be a "Come as you are, stay as long as you like, these are the places we'll be at" kind of a deal.

Since it looks like fuel is going up again - this kind of a thing where there's a lake or sumpthin' within everybodies driving distance and we can all post pictures later on sounds like a heck of a good way to get a whole mess of folk together.

It's also far enough ahead on the calendar to do some real planning.
