as mentioned its pretty high.. my bed wood is raised 1inch to have the rear end pumpkin clear the wood when the airbags are down, even with that it would be hard to get the fill neck down to the license plate area..

the top of the tank is above the flange, and the flange is flush with the bottom of the chassis here.. so the filler neck is near the top of the chassis already..

attached is the best pic I can find without the wood and still showing the tail rail moved back to the end of the chassis..

Man this info is awesome, thanks for all the input. I was thinking of putting a fender filler door in but now that I have to go with 3" wider fenders to accommodate my 10" rims with 295/15 and fiberglass fenders is the way I'm leaning not sure if that is do able? With a new tank I would think moving the filler hole over to the side should be do able and then attaching a metal tear drop filler door to the fiberglass fender. Thoughts on that?

Randy Jack used a tank from a late 70's bronco with a side fill and fender filler door..

see this link, and his gallery links from that post.

The Bronco tank would eliminate the need to weld the filler into a new location but from Randy Jacks pics it look like the mod to the frame would show in the box? In any event how would one mount the metal filler door to the fiberglass fender? I'm thinking if you used just glass and resin that it wouldn't hold up....thoughts.

Thanks for all the input...I think I will go with the centered filler 16 gal tank to minimize the impact in the bed.
Great help!
