Do you have a aftermarket intake? There is no airbox lid on the stock intake on a powerstroke.

the stock air cleaner has a lid in it held on with clips just curious if removing it would help performance by increasing air flow

Thats not a lid. That center section held to the two end caps with clips is the actual filter.

Edit - Heres a picture of the filter.http://k-mansparts.com/images/FA-1746.jpg

Unless you are planning on 500+ hp, the stock air filter flows more than enough, it is an efficient filter also.

I still have my stock filter in place and have no plans of installing a aftermarket filter.

The only reason I would install a aftermarket filter is because it is alot easier to service the filter.

IMO as a tech with a lightly modded truck and access to lots of "stuffs" from time to time. I run a stock air filter.

I would have to argue with you on the part about easier to service the filter. It only takes about 2 minutes to change the factory air filter. The AM filters are a PIA and show not much benefit until a LOT higher RPM range.

I have to disagree Tim. It takes me about 7 minutes. Of course that includes 1 beer.

We agree to disagree then haha. It takes me about 5 minutes to change my air filter...mind you I have only changed it once so maybe next time I can do it in 2 minutes.

But my buddy has a AFE intake on his 6.0...takes maybe 10 seconds to unscrew the two thumbscrews and remove the lid....then another 10 seconds to loosen the hose clamp and remove the air filter.
