2001 f250 won’t go past 55

I have an 01 f250 that’s won’t go past 2.5k rpms when driving and won’t go past 55. It’s very slow and looses almost all power while driving. Any ideas, I have changed the cam sensor, fuel filter, oil pressure sensor, valve cover gaskets, fuel pressure sensor, checked fuses and other things I thought it was.

And when you changed the engine sensors and control items, did you use OEM from the Ford or International counter guy?? If you got them from almost anyone or anywhere else you got junk. There are only a few online sources and Fleabay, Cramazon, or even the corner store are not it.

Also what was the reason for changing all the parts?

Get FORScan or FORScan Lite and the adapter they tell you to get and do some diagnostics. Look on this site for more information on using the program.

I’ve used a couple scanners and I haven’t gotten any codes. I’ve done research and thought it was those parts and nothing ever changed. I have a parts truck that I have taken parts from as well I’ve tried to get parts that seem the best.

And...

Did you use FORScan and the reader they told you to use???

Our trucks do not like generic or even most shop scanners. They will not work.

Get and use FORScan or take it to Ford or International and pray they have the last 7.3 mechanic and equipment.

It also helps if you identify the engine in question...

Get the cat pressure tested. I wish I did it from the beginning when I read all these forum posts saying the cats were the problem. If you are like I was, you tried all the cheaper options first, and none of the, made a difference. The test is cheap to help rule things out. It was my cat. I bought an AP/Eastern direct fit off Rock Auto for the best price. Exhaust shop installed it for free (kept old cat for scrap money). Fixed.
