It's a Timken Model 51524. That rear was used under all the F-2s and F-3s from 1948 to 1952. The standard gear ratio was a 4.86, but according to the Shop Manual and Chassis Manual a 4.11 was an option. I've asked here before whether anybody has ever come across a 4.11, but heard of none. The same rear end was used in Studebakers of the era, and I have read on the Studebaker Truck Talk forum that a couple at least exist in their group. Modern 4.11 gear sets are available for this axle today because these were commonly used with Franklin quick change centers by circle track racers back in the day. Guys today building tribute racers seek out these axle sometimes (but rarely). Stu
