Of course i was talking about the 300, if its a 5.0, i am unsure of where the temp sensor is and if it how accurate it is. I am unaware of any 94 trucks that dont have the NORMAL stock temp gauge. Very interesting.
Here's a related question. If the ECT is pooched, and closed loop is not occurring as a result, in addition the MPG taking a big hit, will curb idle also be evaluated 100-200 RPM as a result of the ECUnot being told that norm. op. temp. has actually occurred by the ECT?
Yes, the correct place for temp sensor is near t-stat, first i was confused and think the ECT sensor was the same for the gauge because is in the logical place.
The sender only has one wire and it pushes on and pulls off.
If it has two wires to it you are at the wrong place that is the ECT sensor for the computer.
If you ground one of them you may burn up the computer.

Having the same issue...Changed the ECT sensor already(it was broken and barely connecting). Is this pic of the 302 V8? I can't seem to located the gauge sensor on mine..
I have the 302 in my 92 and mine would only make it up to the O when driving long distances on the highway, it generally stays below the N or on it.
So I replaced it thinking it was defective and the new one did the same thing, so I assume I have a 180* thermostat.
Not sure on the 300 but mine gushed coolant when I changed mine, so you might want to drain some before taking it out.
ok.. i changed it and it barely moved from behind the C.. but it moved. I would think I probably need to actually be driving to see it move up.When I turned to truck off, the needle began moving past the C on the gauge...
