light acceleration miss
2000 lariat 5.4L mostly idles good. no codes or potential codes. when i hit a hill ( even small one) it starts to miss bad if i don't move accelerator pedal .. i can accelerate moderate to hard and the miss goes away and it runs smooth. level surfaces driving along - no problem. new motorcraft plugs and cleaned throttle body .
any way to check the egr valve??

Refer to the other post on this board "2003 F150 hesitation while driving" sounds like the same problem. Bluegrass 7 and some others have given us some good info on that post releated to this problem. I wish a moderator could add that post or a similar post to a permenant link at the top, because it is such a common problem.

bad coils
thanks for your patience all you guys. having been a mechanic years ago (late 70's) it didn't sound like a coil could act up only on light acceleration. it was fine if i pushed harder on accel pedal. but you were all right. i had read all the posts on coils but.... so i bought the cheap coils on ebay and put the 4 on the passenger side and tried it. perfect except on rare occasion when it is cold. i didn't want to invest in high priced coils til i tried it.
thanks again for the valuable (and it really is) service you do for all us less than sharp guys.
i'll hold my cruise control just quit working question til i check linkage and fuses
