I am finally getting around to the R134a upgrade. I have removed the R12 AC from the Bronco and am about to try to build the R134a system from new components and install it.

I have never messed with AC before. I followed a removal description from another site to get the old system out. It was simple enough since I just replaced the heater box after shattering it when a tire chunked its tread.

I know that I need to fill some of the components with oil before assembling this but I'm not sure how all this goes together since I couldn't find a step by step assembly description anywhere. I can put it all together to look like the system I just removed but I need to make sure I get it all lubed correctly before I run it down to have a shop charge it up.

These are the components that I bought from ORy and have on hand for the new system:

Murray 7-4150 Condenser
Murray 56115 Hose Assembly
Murray 58120 Compressor
Murray 60-4518 Accumulator
Murray 54541 Evaporator Core
Murray 55712 Hose Assembly
Murray 38904 Orifice Tube
Murray 36676 Switch Interruptor
Tech Select 26777 Rapid Seal AC System (caps and seals)

Several of these items have o-rings included. I have no idea which of the o-rings to use in assembly. I am also concerned about whether to lube the o-rings and what to use as a lube.

I don't have any oil for the compressor, etc. yet so I wonder what type of oil, how much to use in assembly and which components to pre-lube. I think I need PAG 46 but I'm not sure how much to put in each thing and whether any are pre-lubed so that oil isn't needed.

I guess I am hoping to get a step-by-step assembly description so that I can get this together right the first time.

Hey man I don't need to get off of topic but do you have an E40D in the 92 Bronco? Is it 4 wheel drive? I need to know where your speed controller is. I'm putting a 92 engine and transmission in my 92 ranger and the speedometer is not working. I need to know if that's because the speed control is not hooked up because it was in the rear axle of the Bronco and I didn't take it with me or if it's in the transfer case and maybe I'm not sending power to something and that's why the speedometer is it working

 

i believe it is a sensor in the electronics at the back corner above the pan on the passenger side of the transmission.

No worries. I appreciate you reading far enough to figure that I might be able to answer part of your question. Not getting anyone else chiming in and I have most of it together now anyway so I'm hoping for the best tomorrow when I wrap it up and get it charged.
