So I finally had a somewhat productive day in the shop on Saturday. Got the Alfa running and ready to move out of the way so the supercab can come in the shop. I also got the supercab bed loose so I can pull that off when I bring it inside and can then start looking at putting in the deavers and fuel cell.

While I was supposed to be back and working on stuff a bit more yesterday I ended up killing a bunch of time just hanging around a buddies shop instead and never made it.

Hopefully tonight will be a good, productive night though...

Did you use my gravity bleed procedure or did you get some help on the Alfa?

Brother's buddy was stopping by to drop off some parts to me on Friday and was killing time until an appointment later that day, so he ended up helping.

Kind of bummed though as after getting it back together and bled I realized I want to take out the proportioning valve. So at one point I will have to pull it apart again, remove that and then find someone to help me bleed it again... Oh well.

Supercab didn't make it into the shop last night as my buddies forklift hasn't made it back yet. I didn't get much done but I did spend a little while grinding heads off 10 or so rivets.

it's part of the brake system, Smart one...(Young Kids... Gotta love 'em...) The proportioning valve reduces the pressure to the rear brakes. Regardless of what type of brakes a car has, the rear brakes require less force than the front brakes. The amount of brake force that can be applied to a wheel without locking it depends on the amount of weight on the wheel. More weight means more brake force can be applied. If you have ever slammed on your brakes, you know that an abrupt stop makes your car lean forward. The front gets lower and the back gets higher. This is because a lot of weight is transferred to the front of the car when you stop. If equal braking force were applied at all four wheels during a stop, the rear wheels would lock up before the front wheels. The proportioning valve only lets a certain portion of the pressure through to the rear wheels so that the front wheels apply more braking force. If the proportioning valve were set to 70 percent and the brake pressure were 1,000 pounds per square inch (psi) for the front brakes, the rear brakes would get 700 psi. Trey, Did you know 70% of all brakin' is on the front. (Probably not)

Take it to PMs guys. I know this thread has been no where near "on topic" since day 2 or so, but I am trying to get it back on track and keep it that way.

lol. gotchya steve.

in a semi-desert related topic, do you think i could, with a BFH and a little time, flair out the stock fenders on my explorer? or would that be puttin too much stress on the metal?

Not sure if you are meanin front or rear, but either way they are tough and will most likely crease. Bedsides are easier to do as they are a longer piece of metal between the points where it attaches to the body and therefore easier to flare. Not sure if that makes sense or not...

It can be done, but less flare will be attained and it will be a lot of work. Take your time and go SLOW if you choose to do it this way. Getting over zealous will just end up creasing the sheet metal and making it look bad.

4wd. eddie bauer eddition. yes, its close. everything ive read or heard says you need to trim the fenders to get em to fit. i dont believe it one bit. i just like the flair look and would just as soon not go off roadin and have chew marks in the tires from my fenders... i also like the coverage they offer, to help keep quite so much gunk off of my windshield... lol.
