lightning or side exhaust for a 5.4 superduty
i just bought an 05 f350 with the 5.4, its a supercab short bed. i want an exhaust for it but i dont like pipes coming out the back. so i am looking for something coming out the side in front of the rear passenger side tire. the only brand i found so far that makes it is gibson but it only lists it for the V10. and i want it pretty loud too and ive heard gibsons before and they are a little quiet. i know there is a ton of aftermarket exhausts for a lightning, so i was wondering if any one has had any experience or have seen a lightning exhaust on a superduty. my questions are is it possible to be done, and if so what modifications if any will need to be done and does it look and sound good? or should i just buy the muffler and tips and have it done at a muffler shop? any info will be much appreciated. thank you

From the Y-Pipe back, the V-10 and V-8 have the same exhaust. Call Gibson, they will verify the V-10 and 5.4L use the same exhaust systems.
Before you spend money, check your local laws. Some states on the Eastern Seaboard have laws against exhaust louder than stock, and some states have laws against the exhaust pipe exiting before the rear axle.

im in new jersey and trust me there isn now sound laws here. there's mufler shops all over the place where i live. all i don know is that your exhaust must be two feet past the cabin of the truck. so just after the cab. my 78 is dumped right after the cab but my SD is getting new pipes next week but i havent figured out where i want them yet

But, as I stated earlier, all I advised was for the OP to check the local laws for his state prior to spending any money.
